Thank you for a thought-provoking reflection. It occurs to me that naming something or someone “beautiful” or “ugly” is typically the privilege of the powerful. And that labeling is particularly insidious, since “beauty” is such an elusive, malleable, subjective term.

Perhaps that’s why we crave art and music that subvert those notions and therefore reassert our complex humanity.
